British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
