Jet Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Crack in Windshield

A plane carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was forced to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.

"The plane touched down based on standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a press officer said in a online announcement.

He was traveling back from a short visit to Brussels during the flight.

This incident does not mark the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet transporting a top government figure has experienced technical problems.

Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Marco Rubio to Munich was required to turn back to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical fault.
